It is starting to feel more like spring here in NE Oklahoma, most of our fruit trees are blooming or have already bloomed and our elm trees are starting to get their leaves! The redbuds and wild pears are also blooming. The grass is slowly turning green, but it not growing very fast right now.
Goats
We are still waiting on all but two of our mothers to have their babies. The first ones could be arriving any day now. If you would like us to contact you when more kids are born, please sign up to our wait list here. If you would like to see the mothers we are expecting to have babies, click here. We put the goats out on pasture for the first time a couple of weeks ago, but there still is not much grass growing, so we have not been moving them much.
Chickens
We have about five more chickens to sell. We decided to downsize our flock to focus more on ducks, if you are interested in purchasing the chickens click here. They are starting to lay more and more because of the increasing daylight.
Ducks
One of our female ducks got attacked by a predator recently, so now we are down to four females and the male we hatched last summer. They are still laying every day. We moved them recently onto new grass, we will probably start moving them more once the grass starts growing.
Pets
Pumpkin is getting bigger and bigger! She has a lot of energy too, she tries to play with Dakota and Ollie, but they are a little bit too big and fast! She loves to go on walks in the woods and get in the creek! The other dogs are doing pretty good; the ticks are coming out so all the dogs are starting to get those.
The Guinea pigs have been out being moved on the grass when the weather is warmer.
Garden
We have planted quite a few cold weather plants out in the garden, including spinach, lettuce, kale and radishes. We have also started tomatoes and eggplants inside.
The lettuce and kale don't seem to be coming up; we have always had a hard time getting lettuce to grow. I don't know why the kale isn't coming up, we have been successful in the past with it.
