It has cooled down to the 70s during the day and we are getting a bit of rain, this past weekend we did a proscribed burn on our front field and will be planting it with a grazing mix from Green Cover, here are a few pictures from the past weekend.
Cow and Pig
Agnes went to the butcher this week, she was very small for her age, so hopefully we still get a good amount of meat.
Pig will be going to her new home on Labor day, she is our last pig, she was a bottle piglet and the only survivor of 11 piglets (there mother didn't have milk for them and we found out too late to save any except her)
Goats

The goats are starting to dry up, we are still milking Mamie and Nutmeg twice a day but all the others are only being milked once a day.
If you are a milk customer we would recommend buying in bulk and freezing because we will be done milking in October.
Chickens

Our chickens are laying about 30 eggs a day, but we do have 71 chickens so we should be getting a few more than only 30 eggs. We are only moving the tractors every other day since the grass is all dead and there are a lot fewer chickens in the tractors
We are battling a bobcat right now, he recently took 6 laying hens, so we are trying to get rid of him.
Ducks

We are getting very few duck eggs, it could be that the ducks are stressed out from the recent bobcat attacks (the bobcat killed 4 ducks), or that they are molting. Before the bobcat killed our male duck we did put 10 eggs in the incubator, they should hatch in September.
Quail

We selling two pairs of full-grown California quail, these birds are very hard to obtain unless you want to order 100 straint-run-day-old chicks from a hatchery. They have been healthy birds and lay quite well if they have sunshine.
If you are interested in our CA quail click the link below, we have two males and two females available for sale.
Guinea pigs
Antonella and Victoria are doing well, they are nice and fat and only eat grass, we offer them pellets but they rarely want them. They get put out in a tractor in the day and are brought into a metal dog crate at night (for safety).
Dogs
We are having a bit of a problem with ticks on the dogs right now, we spray them but the ticks are really tough and don't seem to be affected unless you directly spray each tick. The dogs have been really enjoying the cooler weather and spend a lot more time outside, which may be why the bobcat hasn't come back in several days.
Cat

Apricot was getting very thin just eating mice so we started feeding her again and she's doing a lot better, the mice are more abundant in the winter so she may be fine without supplemental food in a few months but for now we are feeding her.
Garden

We occasionally get some cucumbers and zinnia flowers from the garden, and our tomato cuttings look like they are going to start producing soon, for a blog on how you can prolong your tomato harvest click the link below
